New Pics at WPT

Sunday, May 21st, 2006

Limbo!Sorry, the new pictures are a little late this week. Despite popular rumors, I do have a life. sort of. Anyway, we return to the fertile grounds of the Prelinger archives for a couple dealing with life in a suburban limbo (would it make a difference if I told you the name of the movie) and the usual set of assorted pictures.

Go fool me into thinking all this effort is worthwhile by actually writing some stories with them.

Round Robin story number 9 starts soon

Thursday, May 18th, 2006

Sign up for R.R. # 9, to participate in writing it beginning Saturday at 3 p.m. ET. If there’s a recently posted picture set you’d prefer, mention it when you sign up - your vote influences the choice of picture set.

(Note: UpSky2s oversight of RR stories will be going on hiatus for at least several weeks after Round Robin # 9 is published.)

I’m About 499,999,142 Words Short

We've got 0.5 B words worth of imagesHere’s that post I promised explaining the content you get on Inventing Situations. (more…)

Hercules! Hercules!

Sunday, May 14th, 2006

HerculesTwo more picture sets at Wasting Precious Time. On the first one, we once again dip into the Turkey Day stock, for some knock-em-down drag-em-out violence from Hercules Against The Moon Men (aka MST #410).

The other set is the usual semi-random grabs from the rotation at IS. (And that post about how images are selected and rotated and what have you will be coming up real soon. I promise.)

And we still need new people to join in the round robin. (Round Robin #8 is underway, but you can still sign up for #9, or beg UpSky2 to let you in on #8). All you got to do is add a frame or two to a story. It’s that simple, people!

Stories can be started with the new sets until 6/18.

Handle Handling

Thursday, May 11th, 2006

A couple of small changes in how handles get saved.

(1) You no longer need to click the “remember handle” handle link. When you submit a caption, your handle is saved automatically (unless of course you already have one saved).

(2) Now here’s the tricky pointless one: If you’re logged in at WPT and you visit Inventing Situations at the same domain you logged onto (eg sector7g-zz9.com/is/) and you don’t have a handle set then I’ll grab your WPT username for Inventing Situations. I suppose this is only really useful in a few cases, but it’s there anywhere.

(3) Another change I made recently was to refresh cookies when you visit the site. So, if you come to IS at least once every 30 days, you shouldn’t lose your cookies.
