Thanks for the input. I'm starting to get the feeling that I'm a lot more concerned about the distinction than most cappers.

Ad&Info may help people figure out what they're getting faster, but it may also make the stuff sound even drearier for newcomers. Also note that many ephemeral films, like Young Man's Fancy are in fact presented like dramas, and others like Overs and Outs have less information in them than an episode of American Idol.

And I can hardly call the block that contains Three Stooges shorts "dramatised vids".

Maybe I should just name them like TV programs (Playhouse Situations, The Industrial-Educational Complex) and just footnote what the heck they are.

I think (with the above details made clearer), the proper distinction is that 'non-ephemeral' films have a story, but the others don't usually.

'Dramatised Vids' versus 'Ad&Info' or 'Assorted Films' ?

As described over at The Prelinger Archive our (the?) biggest source for them ephemeral films are advertising, educational, industrial, and amateur movies. Maybe the distinction isn't as important to people just here to cap.

Assorted Vids.

?

Uh - it might help if I/we knew exactly what the 'Ephemeral' Films are, too. To save their sense of identity.

?

Regular Videos.

?

Usual Junk. (no, I'm just joking on that one.)

?

Scheduled Regular Programming. (variant of 'Regularly Scheduled Programs'.)
