You Control The Schedule - Free Trial!

Monday, October 30th, 2006

The movie catalog & request system has finally reached a useful beta test. You can now schedule a showing of any of the 420* features films, cartoons, tv shows, ephemeral shorts, surveillance videos, and movie serials that make up IS Playhouse and our Turkey Day festivities. Plus, you can rate the grabs you most (and least) enjoy capping. Best of all, while I’m still working the bugs out, requests are FREE. Each capper can make at least one request, and depending on the total volume of requests, maybe more. Once I’m satisfied everything’s working ok, I’ll start requesting a small fee via PayPal for the service. (The payment button is live, but the price is set to zero. If you want to test it out by sending me money, I won’t stop you, but your movie will still play.) This is in beta mode now, so please report and tolerate any bugs you encounter and let me know what I can do to make it better.

I know some of you won’t/don’t/can’t use PayPal and that there are good reasons for me to think twice about using it. If this thing takes off, I will probably add more payment methods. But for now, I estimate that they are popular enough that a total failure of this scheme will not be because of my choice of payment systems. If anybody wants to suggest alternative methods that are as simple and comparably priced for a small operation like this, please do.

* Coincidence, really. I don’t do that stuff.

Innocuous Updates

Sunday, October 29th, 2006

User registration and login have just gotten some minors update that should make them a little easier and more secure. Once the movie catalog updates are done, there’ll actually be more than just Wasting Precious Time to use your accounts with. But in the meantime, if you already have an account, you shouldn’t notice much difference. You do need to accept our cookies to log in now, but part of the reason I made that change is because I don’t think many (any?) people were logging in without them. Anyway, let me know if you have any problems.

Help Make a fan msting

Saturday, October 28th, 2006

Cappers and mstie fan movies, seems like a perfect combo, but with one or two exceptions, most of them haven’t gotten too far. Seems like the power of wiki and youtube might be a new route to make one. So, I’ve decided to try and start another one - check it out here. You can view the movie below then add your riffs.

Schedule Change

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

The serials will now start at 6 PM Mondays. When it started that half hour later by accident today, it seemed to generate a bigger crowd. Could be a coincidence, but maybe it’ll coincide again next week when we show episode four of Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe - The Destroying Ray!

And since you folks seem to enjoy the blog more when I’m talking about the Brains instead of capping minutiae, here are two fake campaign ads from Michael J. Nelson:

p.s. “Michael” is in fact the answer to the question that was so hotly debated during today’s Flash Gordon episode.
