Chit Chat With Cappers
Here’s a fresh thread for your random thoughts in preparation for the big reunion. The old one was a lot to wade through for newcomers.

I will miss the capping for fun, and the capping to compete with others who capped the same grab. Thanks for all you’ve done for us. We will all miss the habit we developed of wasting precious time.

Hey Gerson, I just wanted to say I’m sorry I missed the fun yesterday…and I’m pissed at myself for writing down the wrong day for my festivities on my calendar. GRRR!!! I feel like I missed a big opportunity to see everyone again. :( And seeing the whole site shut down adds to the sense of sadness and nostalgia…it’s the end of another era, really. Thanks for putting all the time, effort, and probably server money into letting cappers do their thing.

Hmmph..!.. I Leave for a week to go to Oregon, come back, and the site is Tits up..!…. I can understand Gerson’s burnout, happens to all of us Old Farts.. Oh!?
Anyhow, I have to say “Thank you Gerson for all of the years of capping on your site..!!!, Sad to see you go, but many fond memories will make up for it, I have capped long enough now that I cap in My sleep and make fun of just about anything. This cap site actually helped Me learn how to type instead of just picking out the letters and numbers. They say I can be out in five years if I come down off of the urge to caption everything,…. Again, Many Thanx Gerson, and if no one reads this… Oh Well..!”

I vote: Gerson should take a well needed sabbatical (see, that means he is eventually coming back ;-) ).

“Life is like a box of chocolates…” (Isn’t that famous, or something???)
Thanks for the memories, Gerson…. and we’ll await your comeback/re-union tour! Thanks for all your work, and making a caption site with US in mind. (Idiot proof) Now, go sit by the beach, drink a few cool ones, notice how quiet your life has become, and come back!!!
:-)

Packers, WOOO!
Ahem… Great to see IS back again. Another excuse for me to sit and stare at my computer instead of working. WOOOO!

in another thread, UpSky2 asks
(An irrelevant question – except it’s about features – and it’s been bothering me awhile:)
Why doesn’t Add An Answer (see upper left on this page or its freshly-reloaded version) work for me? on hardly any of the computers I’ve tried it on ?
Something in the technology used by that widget, but may I know what? Don’t have to put the answer in public.
Examining the Source tag doesn’t reveal much to me… And BTW, View Results always works fine, and Vote usually works too.
No clue. Is it that nothing happens when you click “add an answer” or nothing happens when you try to vote with your new answer? At any rate, fixing this may require finding a new plugin for polls or somesuch, so while you’re waiting for that to happen, you may want to just tell me the choice so I can add it. Provided you don’t mind losing your anonymity.

Cosmopolitan, “How I Lost My Anonymity!”
No, seriously: my choice was, “Joey the Lemur”. He needs his ass kissed.
Couldn’t add it, because A. though the ‘radio button’ and ‘text-field’ appeared, and I could type into the text-field, I could NOT activate the radio button (would not react when clicked upon by mouse pointer), nor did clicking on the select button do anything. Only way I could change it after that was, by Reload-ing the page (Refresh or Ctrl-r).
Thanks.

PS: I don’t know if it matters, but the non-response of the radio button element that appears when click on Add an Answer, is accompanied by a brief darkening to gray… the radio buttons above it behave normally and don’t show any gray (selection of any of which also causes the radio-button-&-[blank]text-field to go away)… which suggests vaguely that maybe the Add an Answer-produced radio button element is (seen as) Disabled, that would match the graying-out-but-not-responding behavior, since gray is the default ‘disabled element’ color. More or less.
What a mtn out of a molehill I’ve made of it. Slight apologies.

Man, what the heck? MST3K comes back, IS comes back… it’s a conspiracy I tell you.

FYI–the “Chicken of Tomorrow” short you link to in the Prelinger Archives is not the same short that was used in the episode. It uses some of the same footage, and some of the same narration, but it’s different in many places. Take a look.

Thanks for the heads up, Sampo. I’ll trust your authority on this one. I’ve updated this year’s listings to reflect the issue, but I’m going to call this one ‘close enough for now’. On the off chance that I get a chance, I’ll try to regrab it to emphasize the footage common to both versions.
