Kolchak & Brains

Inspired by the odd obsession of one of noble competitors, we now have the too inside for anybody’s good LOLchak the Night Stalker, put together by UnReality of Caption This! fame. Am I posting this to mock the competition or because it’s funny? Umm, yes!

Meanwhile, former Brains continue to keep busy. In addition to the usual RiffTrax chicanery, The Giant of Marathon, the fourth (of four?) Film Crew movies by Mike, Kevin and Bill is out. (And like numbers two and three, you can request a free chance to caption it at IS. (Sure it’s more complicated and less instantaneous than other capping catalog systems, but I don’t think accidentally gotten stuck capping a request yet.)

And the Brains continue to make online videos! Huzzah.

Cartoon Dump, featuring a decidedly more melancholy Frank is already up to episode 5. On the plus side, The Dry Heaves number in this one may be the highlight of the series to date. On the minus side, The Dry Heaves number in this one may be the highlight of the series to date.

And the Film Crew trio wrote and voiced this animated short, which may or may not end up in a future generation’s cartoon dumpster. (link courtesy of PrezGAR.)

I’m not really sure what possessed me to post those “LOLchaks,” other than that I loves me a terrible pun something fierce. I do find the Darren McGavin obsession somewhat odd, but strangely endearing in a I-just-hope-they-don’t-go-off-their-medication sort of way. I don’t know how much ‘m poking fun at them, and how much I’m doing this because I am easily amused.

I added a couple more, though.

I’m kind of surprised that you haven’t gotten to Invisible Hoagie yet. Or would that be “INVISIBLE HOAGIE!” in lolcat? I suppose the night shift’s Kolchak obsession is the sort of thing that ought to get documented in the wiki, but I think it just stems from SFC running them endlessly during late nights back in the good old days. Of course, the obsession seems to be mostly Jazz’s now.

“Invisable hoagy,” maybe? It’s a real nuanced language.

I may have missed that particular in-joke…but, then again, I am about half asleep by the time I get done capping over there.

But hey, if Jazz can continue to unearth new Darren McGavin projects to cap, who am I to stop him?

( About the Brains: In Washington DC they recently showed ‘Predator’ - the original one with the current Governator + a bunch of numbuddys - enhanced with Mike Nelson’s RiffTrax… too bad I only heard about it when it was too late to get there.
Oh, yes, the going of the 90s haven’t superannuated the Brains yet. )
