At last, you can edit your captions
That’s right, another new feature, this time one that people actually want! Can you tell I’m between gigs? After years of resisting, I’m finally allowing people to edit their captions, just as long as they were logged in when they made them. I think it’s pretty self explanatory, if you see the little pencil
next to your caption, click on the pencil or your caption and start editing. It’ll be prettier in modern browsers with javascript on, but should work for all.
I’ve sort of thrown my hands up in there and said “whatever” on the grand editorial issues here, so keep in mind that if you’ve got the fancier version of auto-refresh running (the one where the gallery keeps growing), you won’t see edits until you refresh it yourself (thereby losing the older captions), and that a caption can change after you’ve favorited it (though I don’t expect substantial changes will occur after a captions been read and voted for very often).
I’m also wondering if there’d be any interest from gallery keepers in the ability to view just the captions you’ve voted on in a scaled back view minus all the widgets for voting and the like. Actually, is anybody other than Zee doing regular updates with IS caps anymore?

I haven’t saved captions with any regularity in years, much less put together a gallery. And I keep meaning to poke my head back over to IS, but I seem to only ever get to cap late-night weekends anymore, when the crowd drifts to HCC…

I like the new editing feature but they won’t let me have sharp objects like pencils where I’m capping from. Can you supply me with a crayon instead?

I myself have saved about 50 captions from IS so far, via its ‘envelope icon function’. I’m just dilatory* putting any of the 500-odd captions I’ve accumulated over the years online in any format (I had a good idea in late 2001 and it got shelved… dilatory enough for you?*)
The more voted-on views at IS, the merrier.
(But then, I’m not a contributor -yet. see * above.)

Rex - that’s a common problem for cappers, so I actually used grease pencils for the feature.

Way back in the day all of my captions were from IS, then most of them were from IS, then most of them were from CPB. Now it’s a mixture IS, CPB and HCC. It’s an alphabet soup. Still, no idea when anyone’s going to see my saved captions.

“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled captions yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming backups.
Send these, the homeless captions-saved to me,
They’ll one and all be welcome, that’s for sure.”
