After diving back into mst fan boards last year after a long absence, I was amazed to find how many people with enough taste to call themselves msties lacked not only the taste to prefer Joel, but even to appreciate him. (Yes, this is how I'm rebuilding the site, by alienating the Mike fans.) As for the abbreviation, I've seen all sorts of suggestions floated by people who don't even seem aware of the CT! issue, but I'd be surprised to see anything other than CT become the mainstream abbrev. for the new effort, so we'll be relying on the !, clarifiers and context. Wow, I’m scared to look. The cartoon bots thing sounds like it could be cute, even potentially funny, but also sort of like it misses the point of what made MST3K work. The bots and their personalities were great, but the riffing on pop culture was what made it so much fun. And if you can't provide that...or even, really, the same personalities... Maybe it's just my over-fondness for Mallon's Gypsy voice clouding my judgment, but I'm not sure he's as bad as some are painting him out to be. Either way, though, this does sound like the much more interesting of the two projects. It will be interesting to see how this compares or overlaps with the Film Crew/Rifftrax crew.
