Turkey Week Graffiti Wall

Sunday, November 19th, 2006

Here we are at last, our week long marathon of turkeys at Inventing Situations. Since this is one of our highest traffic times and folks have requested a way to better keep track of who’s coming and going, I’m making this post mainly so you can go ahead add your comments to say things like “are you looking for me? you missed me, but I’ll be back at 5″ or “I’m gonna try to make it for the Friday Mitchell” or “wow, that new PayPal button is really sweet” or “sorry, had to go dip the kids in gravy”. You know post-it note sort of stuff. Thx to keogh and ReptilianSamurai for pestering me for a feature like this.

The Turkey Schedule

Tuesday, November 14th, 2006

[Note 11/22/6: We've been spending a lot of time running much more than 5 minutes off schedule. I have to jury-rig the system to be able to have items start and end at appointed times, and usually that rig works a little better than it does this year. First off, I will do my best to make sure the premieres (the stuff labeled as 'new') start. Second off, most of the stuff I've trimmed from the schedule to catch up, will replay starting late Sunday afternoon between the capper choice segments.]

[Edit 11/23/6: Happy Thanksgiving! I just adjusted the Turkey Week festivities. If all goes according to plan, items may start up to 5 minutes after the labeled time. If things don’t go according to plan, then you’re guess is as good as mine. There’ll be more repeats into the day on Sunday, but those are gonna be decided by poll and whim. All times eastern standard

Mon Nov 20th 12:00 AM 101 The Crawling Eye
Mon 1:10 AM 102 Radar Men From The Moon Chapter 1
Mon 1:45 AM 102 The Robot vs. the Aztec Mummy

The Horrors. The Horrors.

Monday, November 13th, 2006

Horrors! Of! Spider! Island!Do you like stag films that could easily get a PG-13 rating? Maybe a PG? How about when they’re crossed with Lost, but minus the easy to follow plots and pesky intrigue? Do you wish Spider-Man wasn’t so chock full of heroics and believable science? Then have I got the movie for you! Horrors of Spider Island, as featured in mst3k #1011 is what I like to refer to as a really horrible awful terrible bad not at all good film. It’s the fourth out of five new to IS movies in this year’s Thanksgiving marathon.

Running at Wednesday the 22, 8:35 PM and Sunday the 26th, 2:35 AM.

Terkules Day: Hercules Unchained

Saturday, November 11th, 2006

Introducing our third (of five) “new” movies this year for Turkey Week: Hercules Unchained, as featured in mst3k episode 408. A few factoids on the film:Hercules Unchained!

I had to remove the copy of Sylva Koscina singing “Evening Star” (the love theme from Hercules Unchained) to make room for the turkey week pictures, sorry. I left it as anexercise for the reader to create their own mash-up with this, The 5th Dimension’s (Last Night) I Didn’t Get To Sleep at All, and Gypsy’s mash-up of the two.

A Fancy Video from Inventing Situations

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

Now that we’re done with all those campaign ads, here’s a little something I whipped up to promote the upcoming Thanksgiving festivities at IS:

Direct link to the video.

As the eagle eyed mstie will no doubt notice, all but one of these bits were also used as stingers, which sort of explains why the flow from clip to clip is not always as good as it could be. I leave it as an excercise for the viewer to identify what films these come from, which one wasn’t a stinger, which one is edited differently than the stinger version (this is simply how it appeared on the copy of the film I had), and what movie I lifted the audio from.

Please feel free to share this vid with any msties you want to turn onto capping.
