Figuring the Action

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

NomerThe second set of Found Object Theater has arrived. Homer was pretty thoroughly voted off the coffee table, getting not a single vote. We’ve got one new character this week. Since Darth, Luke and Boba all polled equally, I’m going to arbitrarily transfer Sneaky’s immunity to Darth. This time around, the poll is to vote somebody off, and the poll will close on Friday. Mr. Met of course retains his immunity.

Goofy. Goofier. Goofiest.

I don't explain 'em, I just post 'emSince I don’t seem to be coming up with sufficiently engaging picture sets for Wasting Precious Time, I’ve decided to branch out and start making the pictures myself. The result is the first episode of Found Object Theater. My budget for actors is, as you’ll see rather limited and I’ve had to go with amateurs. In fact, I’m going the full on reality show route and letting you vote cast members off the island (table, actually). My two personal favorites have been granted immunity this time around. Use the poll to the right – it’ll be available until the 16th. The bottom vote getter (vote getters in case of a tie) will be replaced in next week’s episode.

p.s. Production values should improve as the series continues and gains popularity.

New(ish) Look

As you might have noticed, we’ve got a winner in the menu contestReptilianSamurai‘s design handily beat mine by more than a 2 to 1 margin (16 to 7 to be exact). Congrats to RS and thanks to all who voted. For those of you partial to way the old links would keep the different images and gallery pages in your history, use the old text links that have stayed just where they are right above and below the screengrabs. Actually, I’ve even added them to all the other pages on IS.

To those of you worried about the height of the menu, note that all the stray links it replaces actually took up more space on the page.

I’ve also continued to upload additions to the movielist, like filtering by category. That movie ordering capability is right around the corner, honest. One more thing – WPT now expects cookies to be on to keep you logged on. If demand somehow merits, I may fix that.

Anyway, what do you think sirs?

Round Robin #14

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006

It’s October. And that must mean it’s time for another Round Robin. (No, really. That’s what October means. Look it up in your Farmer’s Almanac.)

Anyway, if you’d like to participate — and really, who wouldn’t? — be sure to sign up by Wednesday, October 11. We’ll begin the festivities sometime the following morning. Questions? Comments? Bueller? Leave a comment and let me know. – UnReal

New Programming Block – Flash! Aaaah-aaah!

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006

Ming!Based on the good response to last month’s showing of the Flash Gordon film, Rocketship, I’m finally giving old time movie serials their own time slot at IS – Mondays at 5:30 PM. We’re starting off with Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe on Monday the 9th. To celebrate, there’s even a set from the serial at WPT.

Flash should take us into 2007, then I’ll probably dip into one of the serials used on mst3k, like The Phantom Creeps, Radar Men from the Moon, or Undersea Kingdom. Be sure to tune in every Monday to see what Flash does next!
